A student-athlete may receive sport-related financial aid for less than one academic year, provided that the student is in the last semester or during the last two trimesters of his or her course and that the institution certifies that the student (for credit) supports the courses necessary to meet the graduation requirements. (c) will graduate during the previous academic year and the authorization will be exhausted in the next autumn semester. A student-athlete who graduated in the previous academic year (including the summer) and who will exploit his or her athletics ability in the following autumn semester may receive sport-related financial aid for less than one academic year. (d) Single exception. Once during a student-athlete`s enrollment at the certification institution, he or she may receive athletics assistance for less than one full academic year, provided that the student-athlete is enrolled full-time at the certification institution for at least one regular academic semester and has not previously received sports financial support from the certifying institution. (e) Authorization exhausted/Non-medical meter. It is permissible for an institution that has indicated to a student-athlete that he or she will not receive institutional financial aid for the next academic year to grant financial assistance to that student-athlete. (Revised: 07.08.14) If he signs the national memorandum of understanding, the athlete is linked to the school, even if the coach leaves. He could appeal, but there is no guarantee that he will win.
